Bush's push for amnesty

Does it not seem weird that Bush was pushing so hard for the Amnesty Bill. I think this was a more calculated move on on his part and that the bill was never planned to pass. Let me tell you the real story. Lately Republicans voters have started to lose faith in their party and believe that their voice was being not heard. The whole point in democracy is to feel like your voice means something. So to turn this around what would cause citizens to regain the trust in there Republican officials? Would it take constituents pulling together and voicing their opinions on issues by contacting their officials for republican voters to feel secure in their party? And if citizens did pull together and your Republican officials did listen to you, would that cause you to regain the trust in your party? I think Bush sacrificed the remainder of his office to set up the next Republican President. Not only would this sacrifice regain the trust for Republicans in their party but many Hispanic voters are now going to through their vote to the Republicans. Why wouldn't you through your vote to the party that tried to give your relatives and countryman freedom. In their eye even though Bush did not succeed in giving them amnesty at least he tried. Could this just be a calculated move to make sure that Republicans hold onto the Presidency? I think it is very likely that is what it was all about.

I think the Republicans have mostly abandoned their noble goals of smaller government and such in favor of special interests such as prayer in school, abortion, anti-gay marriage, etc. I would vote for them if they got back on track, but that doesn't look likely for a while.

The Republican goals have always included Christian and Family Values. These beliefs also include smaller governmemt and personal freedoms. Please don;t belioeve for one minute that because a few RINOs got into office that the beliefs of the grassroots Republican has changed.
